GRAPHIC DESIGN
I have worked both as a freelance designer and as permanent staff in print advertising and graphic design since 2005. Through freelancing I have worked on brand identities, television production pitches, web page designs and small business promotional print material such as logos, business cards, invitations, brochures and flyers. This experience in personal designs for small businesses is complemented by my time spent in advertising where I worked on corporate identities, logos, brochures, print advertising and image retouching for large corporate entities such as Hyundai, Stella Artois and Adidas. My key strengths as a designer are in typography and brand strategy. Having trained at New Zealand's prestigious Massey University School of Design for four years, I have developed a keen understanding of letter form, composition, structure and layout, as well as having extensively developed the marketing and strategy know-how to execute targeted design work.
My creative industry work history includes a wide range of industry areas including graphic design, advertising, fine arts and television/film production. My educational background is in visual arts and graphic design, where I gained an honours degree in visual communication design. During my four-year honours degree design course at Massey University, New Zealand I comprehensively studied graphic design, typography, art history, design history, marketing, advertising and fine arts. I believe my university grounding has equipped me to be both a designer and strategist. My ability to fully understand the fundamental needs of a project and interpret them in creative ways through research, consultation and planning allows me to create work with a strong concept and appropriate visual symbolic vocabulary.
