| ART DIRECTION FOR TV AND FILM | | | I have worked on television, film and dramatized documentary productions since 2004. I have worked throughout the art department in such areas as set dressing, wardrobe, location hunting, storyboard illustrating/conceptualising, research, proposal writing, in-house graphic design, production design and art direction. Many of these roles have been about visualising and creating the sets and scenes for shoots, from visually interpreting and designing scenes with directors, to choosing appropriate props to match the theme and concept of a production. In all cases and levels of involvement I greatly enjoy contributing to the achievement of interpreting a director’s vision. | | | My work history so far has provided me with a great range of experience due to working for several small companies where staff are used for all their available skills. My educational background is in the visual arts and graphic design, where I gained an honours degree in visual communication design. During my four-year honours degree course at Massey University, New Zealand I comprehensively studied graphic design, typography, art history, design history, marketing, advertising and fine arts. I have found that in the creative industry one of my greatest strengths is having a strong understanding of the history of design, fashion and fine art. My mix of theoretical and practical understanding allows me to create era scenes that are convincing and historically correct. I also draw upon my knowledge to create interesting and unique contemporary looks. | | | Please click on images to enlarge them for a closer look.
